Ostara. The Origin of Easter.

The Name "Easter" goes way back—to Germanic times. About the Spring Goddess “Ostara”. She was the goddess of the rising sun, the dawn, and the energy of new beginnings associated with it. Young, radiant, and beautiful, she brought happiness to the world through laughter, peace, and joy. Our Easter traditions also trace their origins back to Ostara: The hare and its many offspring and because of its great fertility, it was considered a sacred animal of the goddess of spring. And the egg is closely linked to the Celtic "Bird Festival" of spring. It symbolizes fertility. And rebirth: created in the darkness and born into the light. Even in the past, eggs were painted with symbols representing wishes that were to come true over the course of the year.

Ostara is alsoclosely associatedwith the “East,” the place where the sun rises. And with new beginnings.At Ostara, after a long winter, life returns and unfolds in color and form. Flowers begin to sprout. And migratory birds return home. New life sprouts and takes root. And ignites—the fire of enthusiasm and joy of life.
