Cattle Separation
Cows. On the Catwalk. Cattle Drive in the Allgäu.
When, in September, approximately 33,000 cattle—festively adorned with enormous bells and elaborately decorated leather straps, led by the “Kranzkuh” (cow wearing an intricately woven wreath)—make their way down into the valley, it’s peak season in the Allgäu: the Viehscheid season.
At no other time of year are you closer to living tradition than during this season.
Because on “Viehscheid Day,” the cows return from their summer pastures in the Alps to their home barns—and are greeted with wild enthusiasm by locals and tourists alike.
Join us in celebrating this very special tradition and experience the Allgäu in its purest form.
