La Traviata - Bregenz Festival

About the performance:

*La Traviata* tells the tragic love story of the Parisian courtesan Violetta Valéry. When she meets the young Alfredo Germont, she falls deeply in love with him and turns her back on her former life. Together they move to the countryside, where they enjoy a brief period of happiness as a couple. But Alfredo’s father sees the relationship as a threat to his family’s reputation and, with a heavy heart, asks Violetta to part ways with his son—without telling her the real reason.

Violetta sacrifices her love and leaves Alfredo, who mistakenly believes she has been unfaithful. Only later does he realize the truth and rush back to her. But their reunion comes too late: Violetta is gravely ill with tuberculosis. She dies in Alfredo’s arms—consumed by illness and a life that never allowed her to be truly happy.
