Things usually turn out differently than you expect.
“So, how are you?”
That’s the question I’ve been asked most often over the past year. Knowing that the person asking was always referring to the avalanche incident, my answer was always: “I’m fine, I’m healthy!”
"No, that's not what we meant—it wasn't because of the avalanche..."
Then I’ll address the first response posted.
— To be honest, sometimes I do so a bit reluctantly. -
Because my answer—with its core message—takes precedence over everything else. At my age—I turned 65 this year—I’m fortunate to be able to continue making a positive impact in good health. I do this surrounded by a healthy family, with a great team by our side, and a circle of guests who have grown dear to my heart over the past years and decades.
Hospitality and loyalty—in good times and in bad—carry immense weight on the asset side of a family-run business.
When we reopened in March with our “HUBERTUS Unplugged” version, I wasn’t sure what to expect—I never even dreamed that we’d receive such a warm response despite our scaled-back offerings.
For that, there’s only one thing to say, from the bottom of my heart: “God bless you, and thank you!”
So now, together with a fantastic team of architects, specialist planners, and other partners by our side, we can rebuild the new spa. It will be different—a light-filled building made of wood and glass, with spaces for retreat and reflection. I am confident that we will be able to offer you, our guests, something truly special.
After some back-and-forth, the local council in the valley has approved the building permit application in the past few days.
If all goes well, we'll be rebuilding our spa next year.
Yours, Karl
