Following the upcycling of our rooms at the “Mountain Nest,” all the loggias and suites at the “Mountain Lodge” now shine in new SPLENDOR.
Calm natural tones, warm materials, and plenty of space to breathe create an atmosphere where you feel at HOME from the very first moment.
And then there are those little details that don’t demand attention but rather invite you to DISCOVER them little by little.

In an INTERVIEW, our interior designer Sarah Stapelfeldt shares her views and motivations when designing spaces—focusing on natural materials, unexpected accents, and the beauty that often lies in the wonderfully IMPERFECT...

Right from the start, the main goal is for guests to arrive, unwind, and feel at ease immediately. The rooms are therefore intentionally designed to be serene and are meant to exude a sense of familiarity and COMFORT .

Only then does the real EXPLORATION begin. There are many small details that don’t immediately catch your eye: the solid-wood pendant lights hanging slightly askew next to the bed, backlit photographs of the surrounding area, or the MOUNTAIN PANORAMA incorporated into the acoustic panels.

The landscape also appears time and again in the bathroom. Figuratively speaking, when you sit on the toilet, you’re right in the middle of the Bolgenachbach, and the shower’s tiling is somewhat reminiscent of the view from an alpine pasture across the meadow.

So we didn't want to create a space where you've already seen everything the moment you walk in. We think it's much nicer when little details gradually catch your eye.

When selecting materials, our top priority was that everything feel natural, high-quality, and comfortable. Our guiding principle is this: Everything you touch should feel REAL —warm wood, linen, or sturdy cotton fabrics instead of smooth, somewhat cool surfaces.

That’s why we kept the color palette very subdued and focused primarily on warm beige, gray, and natural tones. They provide a calm backdrop for the existing wood elements and lend the rooms an overall sense of lightness.

At the same time, we have tried to think as long-term and SUSTAINABLE as possible. The acoustic panels, for example, are made from recycled PET bottles, among other materials. The new carpet also consists of individual sections that can be replaced separately as needed. Especially in a hotel setting, this is not only more sustainable, but also more hygienic and significantly MORE DURABLE.

For me, it’s actually less about any single element and more, at first, about this new sense of space. If you were familiar with the rooms before, you immediately notice how much more open and peaceful they’ve become. I really love this feeling of BREATHING and feeling at home.

At the same time, I love the DIVERSITY of the different types of wood. To some, this might seem a bit chaotic at first—but to me, that’s exactly what gives it its character. After all, our local FORESTS aren’t made up of just a single kind of fir or spruce. A forest thrives on a variety of tree species, colors, and TEXTURES.

I love bringing this HONESTY into a space and not trying to perfectly coordinate everything to a single shade. After all, nature isn't perfectly curated either—and that's exactly where its BEAUTY lies.

If I had to pick just one specific detail, it would probably be the wooden pendant lights hanging slightly askew next to the bed. For me, this little TWINKLE complements the HUBERTUS perfectly. The rooms can be elegant and serene without becoming too serious.

Our collaboration with Karl, Marc, and Christa is characterized by a deep sense of APPRECIATION and, above all, a great deal of trust. This makes working together incredibly enjoyable and, at the same time, gives us a great deal of creative FREEDOM.

What I find particularly wonderful is this OPENNESS to new ideas. You’re free to experiment, try out new forms, and even take an idea—one that might seem a bit unusual at first—a step further. Often, it’s precisely through this shared EXCHANGE that small details emerge—a unique seating nook, a surface, a piece of furniture, or an unexpected solution—that ultimately make a space truly special.

I also greatly appreciate the company’s VALUES. Regionality, for example, isn’t just something people talk about—it’s actually put into practice—such as through collaborations with artisans and businesses in the immediate vicinity. At the same time, there’s great JOY in continuing to develop things while still maintaining one’s own character.

And it's exactly this MIX that makes working together so incredibly wonderful for us and really fun. You get the feeling that you're creating something together, rather than just working through an assignment.

My personal FAVORITE SPOT is the window seat—or daybed—in Suites 902 and 903.
I think it has an incredibly cozy atmosphere. You can really snuggle up there, look outside, read, or just do absolutely nothing for a change.
It’s not a big, flashy design element, but rather a little RETREAT —and that’s probably exactly why I like it so much.
