SAUNA WORLDS AT HUBERTUS

Polarities,
that bring people together

FIRE & ICE

Soothing heat. Meets invigorating cold. Creating an interplay that revitalizes body and mind.
Welcome to the HUBERTUS Sauna World. A place where warmth soothes. And silence becomes a luxury.

The scent of warm wood, the soft crackling of the fireplace, and the view of the vast mountains create a space where both body and mind can let go. With every breath, the burdens of everyday life grow lighter; with every minute, this sense of security and clarity deepens.

A sauna is more than just heat. It’s a small ritual of reconnecting with yourself—amid the heat, fresh mountain air, and the soothing alternation between tension and relaxation.
A moment that belongs entirely to you.

Interview with Sauna Master CHRIS

How long have you been a sauna master?

I have been working in this field since 2002—that’s an impressive 24 years now. My foundation is my thorough training as a medical pool attendant and as a specialist in pool operations.

What makes a good sauna attendant?

Above all, a good sauna attendant must have a keen sense of the guests’ needs. It’s about guiding them safely and competently, sharing knowledge, and always keeping health promotion in mind. But the most important factor, aside from health, is that guests should simply enjoy the experience.

What's involved in a sauna session at HUBERTUS?

At our facility, the sauna experience is a guided process. We experience the Aufguss together and integrate it into an effective cycle. This involves not only sweating, but also the conscious combination of foot baths and targeted Kneipp treatments.

What makes a sauna session at HUBERTUS so special?

What sets us apart is our individuality. The following points are important in this regard:

Diversity: With a variety of saunas and steam rooms, we can cater to every guest’s preferences—from beginners in the low-temperature sauna to seasoned enthusiasts in the 90-degree Finnish sauna.

A Celebration: Our steam sessions are true rituals featuring high-quality oils and complementary music.

Instructions: We explain the “proper way to enjoy the sauna” during each infusion. We also offer cleansing scented salt scrubs in the steam room, as well as special event infusions, such as our orange-honey infusion with nourishing honey scrub cream.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF A SAUNA?

"The Right Way to Use a Sauna" follows a clear logic designed to provide optimal support for the body:

Preparation: Wash in the shower to open your pores and balance your pH level. This will help you sweat properly.

Warming Up: A warm foot bath (38 °C) gently raises your body temperature and prepares your body for sweating.

Sauna session: 5 to 15 minutes, depending on how you feel (for example, for beginners and their first session, we recommend our mountain sauna at 70 °C).

Fresh Air: Right after that, head out into the mountain air to take a deep breath. Walking along our foot reflexology trail brings oxygen to your lungs.

Targeted cooling: A slow Kneipp shower with a cold hose (starting on the legs, away from the heart, moving from the bottom up to the hips and then back down) directs blood flow back to the organs. The nose and forehead can also be cooled to stimulate the blood vessels in the head (please do not submerge your entire head in cold water).

Shower: Enjoy a long, cool shower all over your body; keep moving while you shower and scrub your body

Plunge pool (depending on how you feel): To cool your body down completely, we recommend taking a dip in the cold plunge pool

Fluids: Replenish your fluid balance with warm or cold beverages.

The finishing touch: A final warm foot bath (5–10 minutes) prevents unpleasant post-exercise sweating by helping the body gently adjust to the temperature difference.

Rest: At least 30 minutes of relaxation (ideally while lying down)

You can repeat this cycle up to three times. It is not recommended to take more sauna sessions than that, as it will no longer have any health benefits.

Tips for "Quick Sauna Users" & Beginners

  • Choosing the right spot: In the sauna, the heat rises. Sit or lie down on the bottom or middle bench. The temperature there is significantly milder than at the very top.

Listen to your gut: There's no "required duration." If your body signals after 5 minutes that it's enough, that's perfectly fine. The health benefits begin even with brief exposure.

  • Start off gently: Use saunas with lower temperatures (such as the mountain sauna at 70 °C or the steam room) instead of going straight into the 90 °C Finnish sauna.

Preparation with Foot Baths: A warm foot bath before the sauna prepares the blood vessels. This way, the body doesn't have to react to the heat in the sauna with a "shock," which is gentler on the circulatory system.

  • Start lying down, end sitting up: Lie down comfortably so that your body remains at a constant temperature. But very important: For the last 2 minutes, sit up and let your legs dangle so that your circulation can stabilize before you leave the cabin.

Why is alternating between hot and cold so good for the body?

In the sauna, we simulate an elevated core temperature—essentially an artificial fever. Through the targeted alternating stimulation of heat and cold, we train the blood vessels and the immune system. The body learns to respond more quickly to emerging infections or inflammation. This can often prevent illnesses or at least alleviate their symptoms. As an added bonus, the whole experience relaxes the mind, the fascia, and the entire musculature.
