Experience Mindfulness at the HUBERTUS Alpin Lodge & SPA
The Mindfulness Days and I have been a well-established team at the Hotel Hubertus for many years now. Year after year, the hotel’s guests have embraced the meditation sessions with increasing openness and enthusiasm. While just a few years ago only a handful of guests would come to meditate at 7:30 a.m., the Weitblick is now full even on Sundays when the mindfulness bell rings to signal the start of meditation.
Mindfulness Has Become Mainstream
Many years ago, mindfulness and meditation were not techniques used by the general public for stress management. On the contrary, such practices were clearly dismissed by a large portion of the population as esoteric and avoided at all costs. But in recent years, I’ve observed tremendous developments that make me very happy. Mindful interaction with oneself and others has become a conscious focus within various systems. This can take the form of mindfulness exercises that help foster more harmonious relationships. But even large companies are increasingly using mindfulness training to cultivate compassionate and mindful interactions in their daily work lives. Even high-ranking managers often choose to strike a balance between their demanding leadership roles and taking a short break on a meditation cushion after a 12-hour shift.
Mindfulness at the HUBERTUS Alpin Lodge & Spa
We at the Hubertus have long kept pace with this trend—in fact, we’ve even been ahead of it. These days, during our mindfulness days, 10 to 15 participants gather every morning to start the day with a meditation session together with me. These are beginners who wish to embark on the path of a mindful life. But many advanced practitioners, who have already experienced the benefits of mindfulness and no longer wish to do without this enrichment, also enjoy participating in my exercises. Recently, I’ve also been training the staff at the Hubertus Hotel in mindful practices. This allows guests to experience holistically relaxing and rejuvenating days in the caring and mindful hands of the team.
Mindfulness in Everyday Life
Time and again, I find that guests struggle to recreate those moments of downtime and deep self-reflection in their everyday lives. While guests can easily make time for these experiences on vacation, there’s hardly any room for them in the stressful routine of balancing work and leisure. Being mindful doesn’t mean you have to set aside a large portion of your time for mindfulness exercises. Mindfulness begins in the small details of life. Often, it’s enough to simply sit quietly for 5 minutes and do a short exercise. Most of the time, you’ll feel more relaxed, at ease, and calm afterward. To help you find the time to take a short break each morning and evening, I’ll share a few brief exercises at the end of this text that you can use to continue practicing mindfulness at home even after your stay at Hotel Hubertus. By the way: Practicing mindfulness doesn’t require any drastic lifestyle changes. Small steps are more than enough to help you become happier, more content, and more relaxed in the long run. The exercises I’ve described will help you experience small moments of relaxation in your daily life through simple mindfulness practices.
Three Short HUBERTUS Mindfulness Exercises:
The Blessings of Water
Be fully present in the moment while you shower today: Are you aware that the skin is the largest organ in our body? It is connected to all our organs via nerve pathways, which is why we excrete many waste products through the skin. How does it feel when the water touches your body? Where does it feel pleasant, and where does it feel unpleasant? What changes in your body as you let the water gradually get colder? How does your body react to this?
Drink tea (or coffee or wine). Find peace.
In mindfulness, drinking tea means letting go of the noise of the world. Drinking mindfully, sip by sip, means being fully present in the moment. Observe your physical sensations, thoughts, and feelings as you “simply” drink a cup of tea without doing anything else at the same time.

Be Grateful
We believe that happiness lies in the future. In doing so, we often overlook the richness of the present moment. Get off the bus here! Spend a day reflecting on the things you can be grateful for. For example, having something to eat? Fresh fruit? Even if it sounds trivial, these things shouldn’t be taken for granted.
