Every morning, it's right at the front of our breakfast buffet—
, the ginger water.
Time and again, our guests ask us what this is all about. Is it actually common for this to be served at breakfast in a wellness hotel in Bavaria? Ginger has been used as a remedy in Ayurveda for thousands of years. But it can do much more: it lowers cholesterol levels and blood pressure. It breaks down metabolic waste. It aids digestion. And it’s an effective remedy for colds.
But why is it on our breakfast buffet? Because of the “yoga fanatics”? No, it’s quite simple: ginger water stimulates the appetite and aids digestion. And up in the mountains, it’s a good idea to have a hearty breakfast in the morning. After all, people come to a wellness hotel in the Allgäu to go hiking, mountain biking, and much more ;-). And for that, you need a looooot of energy. Alina, Andrea, and Zuzi—our breakfast angels—have already perfected the recipe and whip up several liters of it every morning. And they know that for many guests, it’s now become a staple. And some of them have never even done yoga ;-)
During the COVID-19 pandemic, when we temporarily had to suspend our breakfast buffet, there was a heated debate about which items could be omitted from an “à la carte breakfast served at the table.” Our team leaders hadn’t included ginger water on the menu—but they didn’t count on our breakfast crew. They would have had to hear from them why ginger water is no longer being offered.
And so it continues to be right at the front of our buffet every morning. Yoga, Ayurveda, wellness, and the Allgäu—whatever.
I’m sure Karl has tried it, too. But he won’t tell me. Because I was right.
It actually tastes really good!
